Fig.7 Infill A Flexible Unit

This residence is a renovation of one of apartments built 25 years ago but located in a very convenient place in the center of a city. The client who owns it is a product designer: therefore, there is little boundary between his work and daily life. The requirement was a highly changeable studio apartment wherein a kitchen was a center thereof.

In short, it needed changeability to be a residential space some time, or a party space other time. The procedure to renovate was ultimately simple. At first, previous partition walls and ceilings were all removed to make the room an empty single room, resulting in the most part of construction was finished.

Then, freely-movable architectural furniture and other articles were deployed to complete the renovation. All elements were produced and fabricated in a factory, and then delivered to the place. Therefore, the term to carry out the renovation was dramatically reduced.
